What a contrast between the US and French governments and our own, their citizens will receive compensation due to acts of terrorism sponsored by Libya. Our government, reluctantly, now agrees to help those affected by similar acts here in the UK. Perhaps a desire to bury the past of those now entrenched within the government of Northern Ireland.

50 m Pool Funding

50 m Pool Funding

The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure has confirmed funding for Bangors proposed 50 m swimming pool. The pool is due for completion in time for the 2012 Olympics and will be a tremendous boost to the standing of North Down and its residents.

The fury seen in America following The Scottish release of Lockerbie bomber Abdulbaset al-Megrahi is understandable, yet Americans such as Senator Edward Kennedy were instrumental in the promotion of violent republicans. Only 7/11 stemmed the flow of the terror dollar, yet we continue to suffer the indignity of terrorists, no different from Abdulbaset al-Megrahi, in the government of our country.

Town Hall Bangor was one of the events attended by the Sister Cities International Youth conference. Following lunch on the west lawn the youth delegates visited Bangor town centre.

Bangor Ladies Choir at Stormont

Bangor Ladies Choir entertained delegates to the first Sister Cities International Conference to be held outside the United States. The SCI event at Stormont welcomed delegates to our Government building with speeches by First and Deputy First Minister. The choir sang a varied selection which was enthusiastically enjoyed by the delegates.
