Bangor Ladies Choir

Bangor Ladies Choir has a membership of over 50 and is considered one of the premier choirs in North Down. They perform at many locations throughout the world including Bregenz, Virginia Beach, Toronto, Strasbourg, Brussels and within the United Kingdom and Eire.

The choir host many local concerts and have as their guests artists such as Hayley Westenra, Aled Jones, Peter Corry, Amici, Celtic Tenors to name a few.

Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening under the direction of conductor Joan Houston.

Hayley Westenra

Hayley Westenra was the guest star at Bangor Ladies Choir annual concert on Saturday 28 February 2009. The sellout concert was held in Bangor Elim Conference Centre, Balloo Road, Bangor. We have already enjoyed Hayley Westenra at Waterfront Hall, The concert was excellent and the songs were every bit as good as on CD.

Once again Bangor Ladies Choir provide the lead in bringing quality entertainment to North Down. On the night Hayley was once again excellent in front of this capacity and appreciative audience. In the finale Hayley and the Choir preformed Amazing Grace accompanied to the surprise of the audience by a piper which added a special touch to an already magnificent performance.

The night was an overwhelming success, the only question being asked was how will the choir beat that next year. Hayley is an artist of International standing and it was a great honour to have her perform in Bangor.

Hayley has recently been asked to act as patron for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. River of Dreams is the latest album and features Summer Rain was written by Hayley herself, a previous album "Pure" was the best selling classical album of the 21st century.
